Graduates: five CV tips to help you get ahead

First impressions count. Psychologists refer to warmth and competence as the two defining factors we assess when we meet someone for the first time. Conveying both trustworthiness and respectability starts before you actually walk through the door and meet your interviewer. Your CV is your chance to not only convey both traits, but also exemplify your suitability for a career in pharmaceutical and medical sales. Here are five CV tips to help you get ahead in pharmaceutical and medical device sales:

  1. Tailor your CV
Companies advertising for a role in pharmaceutical and medical device sales will want to know that your skills match those that are outlined in the job description. Generic CVs won’t grab the attention of the hiring manager. Read the job description carefully and tailor your CV accordingly.

  2. Focus on your achievements
Stand apart from the other candidates and share accomplishments not responsibilities. Ensure your achievements are clear and tangible.

  3. Less is more!
Depending on achievements and/or the length of your career, we recommend that your CV is no more than three pages. Avoid filling space for the sake of it.

  4. Create a clean, clear CV
Be sure to select the right fonts. Sans serif fonts such as Verdana or Tahoma create a clear crisp look. Choose one font and stick with it throughout. Avoid Comic Sans! The best CVs are concise and have a professional format.

  5. Use a second set of eyes
Grammatical errors are sure to hinder your chances with employers and recruiters. Get a friend or family member to proofread your CV, as well it as checking it over yourself.

Check & re-check your CV for grammatical errors
