Senior Supplier Quality Engineer - Orthopaedics - Gloucestershire

Our client is a leading medical technology company focused on providing innovative orthopaedic solutions, specializing in Hip, Knee, ligament implants, surgical robots, and 3D planning tools. They are dedicated to improving the quality of life for patients by advancing orthopaedic care.

As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer, you will ensure that products and materials supplied meet manufacturing specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. You will lead supplier quality improvement initiatives, investigate significant quality issues, and support the qualification and development of suppliers to enable business growth and operational excellence.

In addition, you will provide technical leadership and mentoring to colleagues within the Supplier Quality team, helping to strengthen quality expertise across the organisation.

Key tasks include:

• We are looking for an experienced quality professional who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to influence suppliers and stakeholders effectively.
• Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Extensive experience in a Quality Engineering role within a manufacturing environment, ideally within the medical device sector.
• Strong background in Supplier Quality Engineering, supplier development, and supplier qualification activities.
• Experience leading supplier audits, complex quality investigations, and supplier improvement programmes.
• Sound knowledge of ISO 13485 and medical device quality management system requirements.
• Strong practical understanding of root cause investigation methodologies, corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), risk management principles and quality engineering tools and techniques
• Ability to independently lead supplier quality activities and make sound quality decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and support less experienced engineers.

Personal profile:

• Strong, hands‑on experience with CNC machines including setting, programming, and operation
• Solid understanding of CMM and manual inspection techniques
• Time‑served engineering experience post qualification (Degree, HND, T‑Level or equivalent)
• A methodical, organised approach with strong time and project management skills
• Good PC literacy, including Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and proactive mindset
• A professional, approachable attitude with a strong sense of urgency and ownership
