Lisa Ellis reflects on two decades with CHASE

Lisa Ellis’ 20-year journey with CHASE includes five roles in pharma, both contract and permanent, showcasing CHASE’s expert guidance and lasting career impact.

July 6, 2025

When Lisa Ellis first connected with CHASE in 2003, she had no idea it would be the beginning of a two-decade-long partnership. Since then, Lisa has experienced a remarkable career spanning five roles in pharmaceutical and healthcare sales, with CHASE by her side every step of the way. Two of these roles were permanent placements, while three were contract-based, all secured through CHASE’s expert guidance.

Lisa’s story is not just a testament to her resilience and adaptability but also to CHASE’s commitment to helping candidates in the life sciences sector thrive. For professionals considering their next step in pharma, medtech, or healthcare, Lisa’s experience offers invaluable insights into what makes CHASE’s recruitment support exceptional.

The beginning of a meaningful partnership

Lisa first came across CHASE through a recruitment platform and reached out to consultant Kirsty, who would go on to play a key role in her career progression. “I had previously interviewed with CHASE as a rookie,” Lisa recalls. “They gave me some great advice on how to shadow other representatives and gain a better understanding of the role. That advice stuck with me.”

Her first role via CHASE was with a leading pharmaceutical company. “. Kirsty guided me through every step of the recruitment process, ensuring I was well-prepared,” says Lisa.

Career progression with CHASE

Over the years, Lisa has transitioned smoothly between roles, often leveraging CHASE to find positions that matched her skills, interests, and career goals. “After my first permanent headcount role, I went on to work in contract positions with several major pharma companies, before moving to my current role through CHASE,” Lisa explains.

What’s striking about Lisa’s career is her readiness to transition between permanent and contract roles, which she attributes to the security she feels with CHASE. “It’s rare to leave a headcount role to take up a contract position, but I knew CHASE would make sure I was supported,” she says.

Why Lisa keeps coming back to CHASE

When asked why she continues to rely on CHASE for her career moves, Lisa says: “It’s the quality of both the roles and the preparation CHASE provides.”

This preparation includes:

  • CV support: “Kirsty met with me in person to fine-tune my CV and gave me loads of pointers.”
  • Interview coaching: “CHASE prepped me extensively for every assessment centre, helping me understand exactly what to expect and how to excel.”
  • Industry insights: “They connected me with people who had been through the same interview process, so I walked in fully informed.”

Lisa also highlights CHASE’s administrative and emotional support. “From handling tax documents to ensuring I was prepared for potential role changes, CHASE was always one step ahead, often resolving issues before I realised they existed.”

“The CHASE Project Management team is exemplary. They were always there for me, providing face-to-face coaching, mentoring, and tips to help strengthen me in my role. It’s guidance at a personal level which I really appreciate.”

The human touch

For Lisa, CHASE’s consultants stand out for their approachability and dedication. “They’re dynamic, proactive, and massively supportive,” she says. “Kirsty, in particular, really knows her candidates. She understands what roles would suit me and has always been there to guide me through challenging situations.”

Lisa also praises the wider CHASE team, noting their quick responses to administrative queries and their ability to step in when needed. “When I’ve had issues, like self-assessment tax queries, the team sorted everything out seamlessly. That’s something you just don’t get everywhere else.”

Advice for candidates considering CHASE

Lisa’s top advice for life sciences professionals considering CHASE? “Stick with them. I’ve been tempted to register with other recruitment agencies, but I’ve realised it’s best to hold your nerve with CHASE. They have more roles than anyone else and will find something ideal for you.”

Her experience reflects CHASE’s ethos of being more than just recruiters. “They’re career partners. They take the time to understand you and your goals. Over 20 years, they’ve ensured I’ve never been out of work for more than five weeks.”

Why CHASE is unique

From a candidate perspective, Lisa believes CHASE sets a gold standard in pharma, medtech, and healthcare recruitment. “CHASE offers unmatched opportunities, and their consultants are experts at matching you with roles that fit your experience and aspirations.”

Comparing CHASE to other organisations, she says, “When I’ve been placed by CHASE, everything—from the company car to onboarding—is sorted efficiently. Their clients trust them to handle the most challenging aspects of hiring.”

Looking ahead

At this stage of her career, Lisa is content and confident. “I’ve reached a point where I know CHASE will help me find me another role if  this one ends. That’s a really reassuring place to be.”

Lisa Ellis’s story is a powerful example of how CHASE supports life sciences professionals at every stage of their careers. Whether you’re just starting out or looking for your next challenge, CHASE offers the expertise, opportunities, and support to help you succeed.
